As Gameweek 14 starts to come into view following a busy week of fixtures across the UEFA European competitions, we train our focus towards Liverpool’s notoriously attacking full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m), with the defender coming off the back of his first Premier League goal of the season.
To be priced as highly as he currently is, underlines the FPL appeal and reputation of Alexander-Arnold, who has garnered such a high-cost base for a defender following seasons of consistently high fantasy returns from right-back. His attacking prowess in particular is what sees him stand out from many of his peers.

Four of the last five seasons has seen Alexander-Arnold accrue a double figure number of assists and an FPL return of at least 156 points, his total score across the 2022-23 Premier League campaign and after a really slow start this campaign, finally he is finally showing signs of returning to the form which made him a regular starter for a club who expects to compete for the title. But following a slow start to this latest campaign, returns had been small by Alexander-Arnold’s usual high standards.
Nine gameweeks after his assist against Aston Villa, Alexander-Arnold finally managed to get himself on the scoresheet in this season’s Premier League. It was an extremely important goal as well, the equaliser away to Man City and when taking into account his Gameweek 12 clean sheet vs Brentford, Alexander-Arnold has now accumulated 15 FPL points over the past two gameweeks.
Liverpool are back at home in Gameweek 14, taking on Fulham at Anfield and Alexander-Arnold will no doubt be afforded plenty of licence by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to roam forward at every opportunity. This increases his potential for attacking returns, which may well be important this weekend from an FPL perspective, with the Reds expected to be without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson. Not having the Brazilian stopper available would decrease Liverpool’s clean sheet prospects in this particular gameweek.
