Crystal Palace vs Manchester City: Preview, expected line-ups, how to watch and prediction

-

The State of Play

Crystal Palace are not in immediate danger of dropping into the bottom three and the relegation places but there are several issues for Oliver Glasner to solve down at Selhurst Park. They have won just one of the five games that Glasner has been in charge of and come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in midweek as they sit eight points clear of the bottom three and the relegation places.

Manchester City moved back down to third in the Premier League table on Thursday night as Liverpool defeated Luton Town by three goals to one at Anfield. On Wednesday evening, Phil Foden inspired City to a 4-1 win over Aston Villa with an impressive hat-trick as they stay in touch with both Liverpool and Arsenal in what is already becoming a remarkable and exciting Premier League title race.

Team News

Crystal Palace are missing several key players for this weekend’s visit of the defending champions. Sam Johnstone, Marc Guehi and Chris Richards are all unavailable, whilst Michael Olise remains doubtful.

Manchester City have been missing the likes of Ederson, Nathan Ake and Kyle Walker due to respective injuries. Ederson remains doubtful, whilst both Ake and Walker are still unavailable.

Expected Line-ups

Crystal Palace: Henderson; Ward, Andersen, Lerma; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Eze, Mateta, Ayew

Manchester City: Ortega; Lewis, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol; Rodri, Silva; Doku, Foden, Grealish; Alvarez

What they Said

Oliver Glasner remained calm and upbeat after the loss to Bournemouth saying that the performance remained relatively strong but the Eagles just ‘could not finish their chances’.

Pep Guardiola saluted England international Phil Foden the other day and heaped the praise on him saying ‘he has goals in his veins’ after his match winning performance on Wednesday.

When and How to Watch

This match will be played at Selhurst Park at 12:30 on Saturday April 6th and will be televised live on TNT Sports in the UK. It will also be streamed live on the TNT Sports app in the UK.

Prediction

Crystal Palace are attempting to evolve their style of football with Palace’s three-at-the-back system, similar to what Glasner implemented at Eintracht Frankfurt, still very shaky. Manchester City finally defeated a team by more than two goals in midweek for the first time in 18 matches in the Premier League, which is very unusual. Another comfortable City win is expected this weekend against struggling opposition.
