Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is “optimistic” England midfielder Eberechi Eze will sign a new contract.
Eze is currently absent with a hamstring injury sustained last month but Hodgson believes the 25-year-old will extend his stay at Selhurst Park and follow the lead of Michael Olise, who signed a four-year deal in August.
Hodgson said: “I believe the club are working very hard with Eberechi Eze.
“They are very confident it won’t be too long before they can announce him as well.
“These matters are taken care of by [chairman] Steve Parish and [sporting director] Dougie Freedman, they keep me informed.
“But certainly, they are optimistic it won’t take too long to get Eze to commit his future as well.”
Olise and Eze, who joined Palace from QPR in 2020, are both on track to return from their respective injuries before the next international break, according to former England boss Hodgson.
He added: “They’re making good strides.
“[They will return] before the break without a doubt and hopefully even for the Everton game [on November 11]. That’s not out of the question.”
