Liverpool will allow Luis Diaz to decide if he will be in the squad for Sunday’s trip to Luton.
Diaz is awaiting news from his native Colombia with his father still being held by rebel group Ejercito de Liberacion (the Colombian National Liberation Army) having been kidnapped last Saturday.
Reports in Colombia have suggested Luis Manuel Diaz will be released soon but Klopp admitted he would not be forcing his 26-year-old son to play after a week or anguish.
“He didn’t train two days ago but had a session yesterday,” said Klopp. “We must wait. If he feels right, he will be here and training with us (today).
“The session he had with us…you could see that when he’s with the boys he’s fine but you could also see that he didn’t sleep a lot. We have to see how he is and go from there.”
Asked if he had an update on the situation, Klopp added: “I don’t get the news from Colombia personally but everything that gives us hope is good. We are waiting for the really good news.
“I cannot really say what we will do as we must wait. It’s all about him whether he makes himself available or not, I will not force anything.”
Klopp is relishing the chance to go to Luton’s Kenilworth Road – the smallest ground in the Premier League for what is likely to be a hostile atmosphere.

He said: “I heard about it, it’s one of the grounds I’ve never been to before, I am looking forward to it.
“Stuff like this is great but somehow we have to get into the dressing room and I heard it’s not massive but we will get changed and then it’s a football game. That’s all I need, a pitch and an opponent.
“I am really looking forward to it, it’s exciting. I love the story. I don’t think anyone expected Luton to get promoted so they have done an exceptional job.
“It seems they are relaxed with the situation, they knew it would be tricky so they want to get everything out of this season, that means point by point, surprise here and there and try to stay in the league.”
Liverpool go into the weekend fourth in the Premier League table, three points adrift of leaders Tottenham. Newly promoted Luton are third bottom having taken five points from their opening 10 games.
