FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 10 Forwards

-

Gameweek 10 is just around the corner, so it’s high time we shined a microscope on the prospects of FPL forwards this weekend.

There is only one place to start, and that’s with in-form Ollie Watkins (£8.3m), who added another 11 points to his tally courtesy of a goal, assist and two bonus points in Aston Villa’s excellent 4-1 win over West Ham in Sunday’s sole Premier League fixture. The England international is the second-most owned forward in FPL, and his ownership will only continue to rise should he maintain his current form. Watkins’ 13 goal involvements in the division this season is more than any other player, and he next takes on promoted side Luton in Gameweek 10.

Watkins didn’t produce the biggest haul among forwards in Gameweek 9 though, with that honour belonging to Chris Wood (£4.9m). Filling in for the injured Taiwo Awoniyi, Wood scored both of Nottingham Forest’s goals in their 2-2 draw with Luton. Should Awoniyi continue to miss out, budget hunters may want to consider acquiring the services of Wood as a useful squad player.

Erling Haaland (£14.0m) was back to scoring ways in Gameweek 9, with the Norwegian finding the net in Man City’s 2-1 win over Brighton. Teammate Julian Alvarez (€7.1m) was also on the scoresheet to notch his ninth attacking return of the Premier League campaign. The pair take on city rivals Man Utd in the Manchester Derby in Gameweek 10.

Yoane Wissa (£5.9m) has been back among the points lately with Gameweek 9 seeing the Brentford man find the net against Burnley. The Bees striker, who faces Chelsea next, started the season brightly and, after a dip, looks to have found some form again.

Bournemouth frontman Dominic Solanke (£6.4m) has been steadily chipping away without attracting much fantasy attention this season, and last weekend saw him score his fourth Premier League goal of the season in the Cherries’ clash with Wolves. An enticing home fixture against promoted outfit Burnley awaits in Gameweek 10, and Solanke offers a tempting option for FPL managers.
