FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 10 Midfielders

-

As we start to eye up the next round of Premier League fixtures, it’s time to take a look at those smart midfield picks who appeal going into Gameweek 10.

There’s just no stopping Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) at present, who continues to justify his large price and show why he remains the most lucrative FPL asset of any midfielder. Consecutive braces for the Egyptian against Brighton and Everton respectively have seen him record a whopping 31 fantasy points over the past two gameweeks. As it stands, Salah’s overall score of 75 FPL points is the highest of any player in all positions and with Nottingham Forest up next in Gameweek 10, expectations of another big haul are high.

Gameweek 10 begins with Spurs making the short trip to Crystal Palace where Heung-Min Son (£9.5m) will be looking to add to his seven Premier League goals already scored this season. He is coming off the back of a goal, an assist and 14 points gained against Fulham in Gameweek 9 and against a Palace side on the back of a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle, owners of Son will be confident of further lucrative FPL returns.

Arsenal host rock-bottom Sheffield Utd in Gameweek 10 and their midfield assets are expected to prove extremely popular against statistically the worst defence in the Premier League. Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) currently boasts 58 fantasy points across the season so far and has failed to gain an attacking return in just one of the last seven gameweeks. Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) may be due another big return following consecutive blanks, whilst Gabriel Martinelli (£7.7m) has scored in two of his side’s last three fixtures in all competitions.

Two goals in as many gameweeks from the penalty spot has led to a surge in ownership for the bargain-priced Cole Palmer (£5.0m). Four attacking returns across his last two league appearances for Chelsea should see him retain his place in the starting XI come Gameweek 10, which sees the Blues host Brentford in what should be another tasty London derby.
