FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 11 Forwards

-

As Gameweek 11 approaches, we focus in on a selection of strikers that are attracting attention from FPL managers right now.

News of an injury to Gabriel Jesus (£7.8m) prompted some FPL bosses to invest in Eddie Nketiah (£5.6m) ahead of Gameweek 10, and what a decision that turned out to be! The Gunners frontman helped himself to a hat-trick against Sheffield Utd, resulting in 17 points for those who put their faith in him. Arsenal face a testing trip to Newcastle in Gameweek 11, but at just £5.6m, Nketiah could represent excellent value for money in the coming weeks.

Just one point less than Nketiah in Gameweek 10 was a player who features in significantly more FPL squads. That man was of course Erling Haaland (£14.0m), whose two goals, assist, and three bonus points against Man Utd came much to the relief of the managers who have held on to him despite his recent ‘blip’. Man City host Bournemouth this weekend, and Haaland is no doubt going to be captained in high numbers.

Known to go on hot streaks of form, Callum Wilson (£7.8m) has struck three times in the last two gameweeks, accumulating 19 FPL points in the process. Like Nketiah, Wilson is also set to benefit from a teammate’s injury as fellow Newcastle frontman Alexander Isak (£7.4m) is sidelined until at least after the international break. The Magpies take on Arsenal in Gameweek 11 – an opponent Wilson hasn’t scored against since January 2018. Could this weekend see him break that duck?

Darwin Nunez’ (£7.5m) ten-point haul against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 10 made it three successive games that the Liverpool striker has recorded an attacking return in, and given that he was also on the scoresheet in the Carabao Cup midweek, he represents a tempting option right now. With nine attacking returns in his nine Premier League appearances this season – some of those from the bench – Nunez holds plenty of fantasy appeal.

It was a rare blank for Ollie Watkins (£8.4m) in Gameweek 10, with the Aston Villa striker not involved in any of his side’s three goals against Luton, but the in-form midlanders take on Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 11, and it would be no surprise to see the England international back among the points once again.
