FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 12 Forwards

-

Which strikers should we be considering in Gameweek 12? All Things FPL looks ahead to the weekend’s Premier League action.

Quite incredibly, only four frontmen recorded an attacking return in Gameweek 11, in what will surely go down as one of the lowest-scoring gameweeks of all time. One striker stood out from the rest though, and that was Nicholas Jackson (£6.8m), whose hat-trick in an action-packed Monday evening clash between Chelsea and Spurs left him with 16 FPL points. A popular asset earlier in the season, the Chelsea man’s haul will be one of frustration for many fantasy bosses who had parted ways with the previously misfiring asset. He is unlikely to see his ownership increase significantly just yet though, as Chelsea face Man City this weekend.

Cameron Archer (£4.5m) is a bench option for many of his FPL owners, but they might be reconsidering his position in their squads after his nine-point return in Gameweek 11. The Sheffield Utd forward scored against Wolves, picking up maximum bonus points in the process, and next takes on Brighton in Gameweek 12.

Another budget option – Neal Maupay (£4.9m) – registered his third attacking return in as many gameweeks in Brentford’s win over West Ham, but the FPL masses have so far steered well clear and are unlikely to flock to him ahead of the Bees’ trip to Anfield in Gameweek 12.

There was huge disappointment for the many fantasy managers who captained Erling Haaland (£14.0m) in Gameweek 11, with the Norwegian scoring just a single point after being withdrawn at half-time against Bournemouth with what seemed to be an ankle injury. However, the Man City striker featured against Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday, so his Gameweek 12 involvement is not in doubt at present.

Darwin Nunez (£7.5m) owners must be wondering how the Liverpool striker came away from Gameweek 11 without any attacking returns as he spurned a number of good opportunities to get on the scoresheet against Luton. Jurgen Klopp’s men are at home against Brentford in Gameweek 12, and those with Nunez in their sides will be hoping for better fortunes.
